18ct almandine garnet solitaire ring

A lovely 18ct white gold almandine garnet solitaire ring. The garnet measures 10.5x8.5mm and the setting measures 5mm deep. This ring is a UK size L 1/2 / US size 6.

Garnet is the birthstone for January and it is sometimes given as the wedding anniversary stone for both the 2nd and 18th anniversaries.
Garnet is the gemstone for the zodiac sign of Aquarius. The gem occurs entirely naturally in a large range of colors, including red, orange, yellow, green, purple, brown, black, pink and colorless.

Lighter in hue than most other red garnets, rhodolite can be distinguished from its darker red siblings thanks to its rich rose-to-raspberry tones with subtle purple variations. Chemically, it's a mix of two varieties of red garnet. Two parts blood-red pyrope, one part purply-red almandine, it is brighter than both.

In folklore, Garnet has long been associated with protection and has been worn as a talisman against negative energy. Aside from its protective aspects, it has been associated with having a calming influence that encourages the transformation of negative emotions to positive ones. It has been considered lucky for love and for increasing confidence in oneself.
