Jewellery at the 2025 Met Gala

The Met Gala, an iconic event where fashion meets art, took place this year under the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Celebrities and designers pushed boundaries, embracing the rich history of Black style and expressing their individualism through tailored looks. But as always, the real stars of the night were the jewellery pieces, which have the ability to transform a simple suit into something spectacular.

The 2025 Met Gala saw an exciting array of jewellery trends, from statement necklaces to ear cuffs, brooches, and even watch fobs, making their mark. With an increasing amount of vintage and antique jewellery making an appearance on the red carpet, let's take a closer look at some of the most dazzling jewellery looks and trends from this year’s Met Gala.

The Statement Necklaces

Anne Hathaway wore a Carolina Herrera look paired with a spectacular Bulgari High Jewellery diamond necklace featuring a giant rectangular sapphire at the centre.

Isha Ambani chose a diamond necklace resembling Anne Hathaway’s in Ocean’s 8, both inspired by a 1931 Cartier design for the Maharaja of Nawanagar. Cartier recreated the necklace for the film, scaling it down by 15–20% costing an estimated $150 million.

Kendall Jenner wore a custom ensemble by British fashion designer Torisheju, paired with a multi-tiered diamond necklace. Hailey Bieber chose a double-breasted Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket, replacing a shirt with a dazzling Tiffany necklace adorned with countless diamonds. Both Kendall and Hailey opted for pear-drop diamond earrings.

Dua Lipa’s custom Chanel look, which took 2,000 hours to create, included over 45,000 embroidered elements such as pearls and crystals. Her jewellery was by Tiffany and featured a mesmerising, layered diamond necklace.

The necklace Priyanka Chopra wore featured a rare 241.06-carat emerald and is the largest faceted stone ever set by Bvlgari. She paired it with a Balmain Couture gown and other Bvlgari High Jewellery pieces, including an emerald and diamond ring, and diamond and platinum earrings.

Miley Cyrus wore a custom Alaïa outfit paired with a Cartier triple-row necklace in 18k white and yellow gold. She offset the statement piece with a pair of classic Cartier Love earrings and a Panthère ring in gold, onyx, and tsavorite.

Diya Mehta made a striking statement with her intricate ear cuff, which perfectly complemented her heirloom polki jewellery. The standout accessory added a contemporary edge to her look, which featured over 9,000 hand-embroidered white quartz stones on a custom Bloni Atelier suit.

Colman Domingo wore a stunning Padma Nacre earring from Boucheron’s Histoire de Style high jewellery collection, New Maharajas (2022). The actor paired it with a vibrant pleated blue robe, complete with an embellished collar made by Valentino.

Pamela Anderson wore a dazzling silver Tory Burch gown paired with a 17.45-carat diamond ear cuff and diamond stud earrings, featuring reworked gems from her Met Gala look last year.

Damson Idris stepped onto the carpet wearing a fully custom Tommy Hilfiger racing suit, topped off with a red, white, and blue helmet encrusted with over 20,000 Swarovski crystals. Idris later removed the racing suit to reveal a bespoke red suit by Tommy Hilfiger. The look was elevated with pieces from his debut jewellery collection, DIDRIS, which included a watch chain adorned with gemstone accents.

Keith Powers wore a suit by BOSS, paired with a duo of statement brooches styled on the lapel and decorative chains inspired by vintage watch chains a sophisticate way to dress up an outfit.

Zendaya wore a three-piece suit by Louis Vuitton, creatively accessorised with a diamond Bulgari Serpenti brooch, strikingly placed at the centre back seam just below the collar. She was among several guests who experimented with unconventional brooch placement as a unique way to elevate their look.

Lewis Hamilton accessorised his Met Gala ensemble with a striking vintage brooch by Briony Raymond, dating back to the 1980s. The piece featured an intricate arrangement of white, yellow, and pink diamonds. In addition to a selection of brooches, Hamilton layered multiple diamond and gemstone rings across both hands, perfectly complementing his cropped ivory tailored suit by Wales Bonner.

Sarah Snook styled seven diamond and gemstone brooches, with six clustered together on the lapel of her blazer and a statement brooch on her bow tie. The use of multiple brooches added an element of drama to her outfit and showcased an interesting way to style brooches for day or evening wear.

Teyana Taylor stunned in a fabulous red cape paired with a grey, red, and black pinstriped suit, designed in collaboration between American costume designer Ruth E. Carter and Marc Jacobs. To complete the look, she accessorised with a stunning David Yurman 18k white gold necklace, complemented by sparkling brooches on her shoulder. Oversized, layered watch chains added a bold finishing touch to her ensemble.

Anna Wintour: Vogue Editor-in-Chief

Anna Wintour, the long-time Vogue editor and co-chair of the Met Gala, stayed true to her classic aesthetic with a Victorian diamond rivière necklace by Briony Raymond. The piece de resistance of her outfit wad a massive heart shaped aquamarine brooch toped with a diamond bow motif. 

Wintour’s choice amogst many other celebrities highlights a growing appreciation for antique and vintage jewellery and the idea that luxury doesn’t always mean new.  This quiet glamour is becoming increasingly relevant, as collectors and fashion aficionados look to invest in jewellery with history, character, and longevity.
